Where Your Gifts Go – Clothing

Truthfully, we have been blessed with a lot of hand-me-downs from my sister’s kids over the years, and that has kept the kids covered. I don’t get to buy that often, but I have what I need. I would, of course, like to do more. I’m a girly girl, and I could buy clothes all day long if I had the resources for it. As the years have progressed hand-me-downs get fewer and further between just because the kids stop growing so fast and because, well, her kids are now giants compared to mine, and anything they send would take YEARS for mine to grow into.

Thankfully, what was a source of embarrassment when I was younger is now trendy, and we LOVE buying most of the kids’ clothes from thrift stores. We always have fun and make sure to visit every aisle. You never know what treasure will be found.

Unfortunately, our income came to a stop just as David had a growth spurt and now no longer fits into most of his clothes. I was planning on doing a shopping trip, but $0 buys 0 items anywhere, even thrift, so we need to cover that somehow.

Clothes and shoes are one of those weird needs that you know you need, but it’s always the last thing you think of until suddenly none of the shoes fit or your child tells you they don’t have any more pants. Then you force them into skin-tight shorts or sweats because they’re stretchy enough, but you can REALLY tell they don’t fit, and you hope the kids don’t notice (they notice).

When you donate to us, you’re actively keeping the kids (and, a bit less, but still also, me) clothed. Your money is not wasted. It is going straight to the needs. We don’t spend where it’s not needed.
